The St. Lawrence Seaway is working on a project that will require a portion of the Welland Canal Parkway Trail to be closed this coming fall at Lock 7 in Thorold. Construction is scheduled to start on November 11th, 2019 and to be completed by December 6th, 2019.
The Seaway will be constructing a reinforced concrete slab and retaining wall, as well as re-positioning security fencing at Lock 7. The existing pathway will remain the same, however during construction the Seaway is expecting heavy construction traffic such as excavators, graders, concrete trucks and dump trucks. To ensure safety at the work-site the path will be closed off to pedestrian traffic.
